About Us
School Courses started because we got tired of boring language classes. You know the ones — textbooks from 1997, grammar drills that make your brain hurt, teachers who'd rather be literally anywhere else. We figured there had to be a better way. So we built it. Our approach? Real conversations. Actual situations you'd encounter. And yeah, we make it fun because who wants to spend months being miserable while learning Spanish? We've helped 47 different types of learners (from absolute beginners to people prepping for job interviews) actually enjoy the process. That's kind of our whole thing.
Over time, we’ve built a reputation for reliability, quality, and clear communication. We treat each project as a partnership and aim for outcomes that last.

Our Mission & Our Vision
Our Mission
We teach languages in ways that actually stick. No memorization tricks. No weird pronunciation guides. Just honest instruction that respects your time and brain. We want you walking out of our classroom — or closing your laptop — feeling like you genuinely learned something worth learning.
Our Vision
Picture a world where language learning doesn't feel like punishment. Where people choose to study because they're curious, not because they have to. We're working toward that. One student at a time. In 15 years, we want "School Courses" to mean real change in how people approach learning foreign languages.
Our Core Values
The principles that guide everything we do
Honesty Over Hype
We don't pretend you'll be fluent in 30 days. That's nonsense. What we do promise: measurable progress using methods that actually work. No marketing fluff.
Real Conversations First
Grammar exists for a reason, sure. But it shouldn't be the main event. We teach it when you need it, not before. Speaking comes first. Always.
Respect Your Schedule
You're busy. We get it. Flexible classes, online options, weekend sessions. We work around your life, not the other way around.
Culture Matters
Language isn't just words. It's how people think. How they joke. What matters to them. We teach all three. Language without context is pretty pointless.
Our Story
Back in 2011, our founder got stuck in a Prague café trying to order coffee and failed miserably. That embarrassing moment sparked something. She started teaching informally from her apartment — just a handful of friends wanting to actually communicate abroad instead of reciting verb conjugations. Word spread. Fast. By 2015 we'd moved to our current spot on Václavské náměstí and hired our first real instructors. We're still scrappy. Still focused on what works. We've dumped methods that bored people. We've doubled down on approaches that genuinely help folks connect with new languages.

Jana Svobodová
Founder & Lead Instructor
Started this whole thing after her terrible Prague café incident. Speaks 6 languages passably. Czech teacher for 13 years before deciding traditional methods were rubbish. Now she designs our curriculum and teaches advanced conversational classes.
Martin Kučera
English & German Specialist
Berlin native who moved here on accident and stayed. Somehow turned that into 9 years of teaching. He's obsessed with making grammar actually make sense. Students call him relentlessly patient. He just shrugs.
Lucia Novotná
Spanish Instructor & Program Coordinator
Grew up between Madrid and Prague. Knows exactly why pronunciation is hard for English speakers — she lived it backwards. Runs our schedule. Surprisingly organized for someone who teaches romance languages.
